Mitsubishi has reportedly received orders to build a large polyethylene plant with a capacity of 1.3 million tons per year. The order comes from a joint project between US construction company Zachry group and GCGV, a joint venture between Exxon Mobil and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). The polyethylene plant will be part of a large ethylene complex that GCGV is building near Corpus Christi, Texas. MHIENG will be responsible for details design, equipment supply and procurement, and module construction.
Exxon Mobil has built a good relationship with MHIENG and has built similar polyethylene plants in Singapore in 2011 and in Texas in 2017. Another large polyethylene plant is being built in Beaumont, Texas, making this latest order the fourth in a row.
For this project, MHIENG recommends an innovative modular construction strategy to improve capital efficiency and optimize the client's process. The US chemical industry market is expanding rapidly as shale gas production increases. MHIENG, in partnership with Houston, Texas-based MHIA, will continue to build relationships with Exxon Mobil and other major customers and actively seek partnerships in the dynamic U.S. chemical industry market.
